 ACTION ITEMS

Welcome Remarks: Anthony J. Ciarletta, President
                               
Secretary Report:    Minutes have been approved and will be posted on website.

Treasurer Report:   Account is in the black & approved by Chairman of the Board.

Introduction of New Members :    We had 3 new  members  present.             

Committee Reports:      
     Membership Report:  We have 101 paid members to date.
   
     Newsletter Report:   No report given.
   
     Continuing Education Report: There will be a CE for October’s meeting .  
            
     State Board of Pharmacy Report: Danny reported that 5th year 
                   students can sit for Part 3 of the exam as long as they have completed the
                  1000 hours. The State Board  is  trying to do away with prescription daily
                   logs making it  paperless Pharmacy.  The Board also wants to get rid
                   of signing the back of prescriptions for controlled substances. They are   
                   looking to encourage e-prescriptions as well.
                 
    Legislative Report:  Immunization Bill has finally passed in New York and will be
                     enforced in December.
          
    Medicare Report: All pharmacies that fill any Medicare or Medicaid prescriptions          
                     must have formal policies and procedures on Fraud, Waste, and Abuse. All
                     must be trained and show proof of such training upon audit.
                     Charlie also made a plea for more PAC money to be collected to help fund   
                     the public relations firm that is helping us fight for better Medicaid
                     reimbursement.           

  PSSNY Report:  PSSNY Convention will be held on June 24-28, 2009 at Villa Roma
                    in the Catskills.  Joe Navarra will be inducted as President.
                             
Old Business:  Need nominees for IPS Dinner Dance.
New Business : Members requesting change to menu.

Good and Welfare:

• Rays dad fell and hurt himself, IPS sent him a fruit basket.
• Charlie Catalano became NYC Pharmacist Society President.

Congratulations Charlie!! 

• John Navarra was this years recipient of The Wyeth Bowl of Hygeia Award. Congratulations John!!     
• Stefanie became engaged to Mark. Congratulations guys!!
